AMA Supercross veteran Ricky Carmichael has joined forces with AMSOIL Arenacross to start a “Road to Supercross” program. Carmichael, a five-time AMA champion, will provide insight for the series, as the program will establish a structure for progression through the ranks of motorsports. Arenacross and Supercross racing will work together with the racer to streamline rider advancement.
“I am really excited to be a part of AMSOIL Arenacross and to be an ambassador for the sport,” said Carmichael. “With the implementation of the Road to Supercross, the championship will grow to its full potential and expose riders to an indoor racing environment that simulates Monster Energy Supercross.”
Arenacross riders will now have the opportunity to develop their skills while transitioning between the two series. Competitors aspiring to reach the Supercross level will have to accumulate points before progressing to the next level, and riders will be able to advance after gaining three points over the course of one season. Each point is earned after qualifying for an Arenacross event, and if a competitor has three over the course of one season, they will receive an endorsement from the AMA.
