New Exhibit Honors British Motorcycles In America
The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) in Hershey, Pennsylvania, has been honoring vintage cars and motorcycles for years, and starting March 15 they will begin showing the evolution of British bikes and how they have impacted modern-day motorcycles. ”Welcome Invasion: British Motorcycles in America, 1940 to 1980″ will highlight power English brands that have become an important part of motorsports and the motorcycle culture in the U.S.
Award-winning machines like the 1948 Triumph Speed Twin, the 1956 Ariel Square Four and some rare models dating back the 1950s and 1960s. There will also be performance bikes that made their mark on motorsports in the 1970s, including the BSA B50MX, Norton Commando and Triumph Trident.
Fans can look forward to more than just bikes. Period motorcycle gear and other paraphernalia will also be on display, giving spectators a look at how riders in the past dressed and protected themselves. Informational showcases, with a focus on certain technological innovations and how the American public perceived the British Invasion, will also be present at the AACA.
The exhibit opens March 15 and runs to October 17, so motorsports fans have plenty of time to make a trip to this special display.
